KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has mobilised air assets as well as personnel for 'Ops Murni' which focuses on the delivery of food and basic necessities to flood-affected areas where land connections are unavailable.

The RMAF in a statement today said the EC 725 AP helicopter was deployed from No.10 Squadron, Kuantan Air Base to perform two mercy flights with the first flight transporting two elderly men with kidney disease.

The patients, Mohd Zain Abdul Manan, 77, and Tan Swee Fuat, 63, were flown from SK Lanchang to SMK Seberang Temerloh while the second mercy flight involved two 4-month-old twins who had a high fever flown from SMK Teluk Sentang.

They were then taken by ambulance to Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital Temerloh upon landing at SMK Seberang Temerloh for further treatment.

On Wednesday, the EC 725 AP helicopter led by Commanding Officer of No. 10 Squadron, Lt Col Muhammad Fazri bin Md Zin as the successfully carried out three food deliveries from the Social Welfare Department weighing 250 kilograms to flood-affected residents around Kuala Lipis and Temerloh districts.

The aircraft was operated by Major Baynard Mesyeano Tim'ah and assisted by Lt Izwan Shafiq Suhaimi and carried out deliveries to 8 RAMD, SK Budu, SMKA Kuala Lipis and SK Lubuk Terua.

A total 10 deliveries sorties were done yesterday by the No. 10 Squadron with five in the morning and another five in the evening.

For these two assignments, a total of 1,000 kgs of food supplies from the Social Welfare Department was sent to the affected locations, namely Camp Batu 3, SK Lubuk Terua, SK Lanchang, IKBTN Lanchang, SK Desa Bakti, SK Rantau Panjang, SK Penjom and SMK Seberang Temerloh.

Eight members from the Air Quartermaster (QM) and the search and rescue (SAR) team were also involved in yesterday's operation.

The RMAF, which is in a state of readiness for some time, will continue to be committed in carrying out the task of 'Ops Murni' to support ATM in ensuring the well-being of the people and the country in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic.
