KUANTAN: Temporary routes for Jalan Kuantan-Segamat have been opened following two road embankment erosion at KM63 and KM73.

Senior Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof who visited Federal Route 12 (FT12) Jalan Kuantan-Segamat today said cleaning works at the site and the installation of temporary signages in the area had been carried out.

In a Facebook post, he said both locations of the erosion were within the project area of ​​Upgrading Federal Route 12 (FR12) from Gambang to Segamat.

"The road embankment erosion was reported to have occurred at 7.45am on Friday and the Public Works Department (JKR) together with project contractor (Mulia Interlink Construction Sdn. Bhd.) had carried out cleaning works at the incident site and the installation of temporary signages in the area", he said.

The erosion was due to continuous rain from Dec 31, 2020 to Jan 1, where there was an overflow of water from the sewer structure to the surface of the road pavement at both locations.

He said temporary routes had been open to all types of vehicles since yesterday afternoon.

Fadillah said this after visiting the FT12 Kuantan-Segamat location of road embankment erosion at KM63 and KM73, Federal Route 12, Pekan District, following a briefing session at JKR Pahang.

The route is partially open to all types of vehicles.

Road embankment repairs by the project contractor have already taken place and it is expected to be completed by middle of next month.
