GEORGE TOWN: Nur Amalina Norain, 25, wife of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) striker Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad, 25, was transferred to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) this morning for further treatment.

According to Muhammad Syafiq's father, Ahmad Ibrahim, 56, his daughter-in-law was moved from the Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) to HKL at about 6.30am.

Ahmad said he was made to understand that Nur Amalina was trasferred to enable specialists at HKL to continue monitoring her condition following discussions with specialists at HSJ.

"My daughter-in-law is getting much better and stable. There is nothing serious about her condition. It is just that she has been transferred to HKL to enable specialists there to monitor her.

"My family and I, as well as Syafiq will go down to HKL today and will be with Nur Amalina until she recovers and is discharged from the hospital," he said today.

Nur Amalina and Muhammad Syafiq were involved in an accident at 4am last Sunday, which claimed the lives of their 22-day-old son, Muhammad Aisy Saqeef; the footballer's mother-in-law, Zainab Wahab, 45; and Indonesian helper Titik Sukamti, 42.

Muhammad Syafiq was behind the wheel of the Toyota Vellfire they were all travelling in when he reportedly lost control and rammed into the guardrail along the North-South Expressway (NSE) in Sungai Bakap.

Also in the vehicle was the couple's two-year-old daughter Aaira Nur Saffiyya who sustained minor injuries.

Muhammed Syafiq also sustained minor injuries while Nur Amalina was seriously injured.

They were on their way to Nur Amalina's family home in Pendang, Kedah where she was to complete the rest of her confinement after giving birth on Nov 14 when the crash occurred.

On Monday, Aaira Nur Saffiyya was discharged from HSJ.

The same day, Nur Amalina successfully underwent a stomach surgery at HSJ after complaining of pain in her stomach and back, following her move from the Sungai Bakap Hospital (HSB) on Sunday.

Yesterday, Ahmad urged all quarters to give Muhammad Syafiq time and space to overcome the challenges he is currently facing, stressing that his son is not yet prepared to share his experience about the tragic fatal crash.

Ahmad said his eldest child's focus is now on his wife, who is still receiving treatment.
