State Civil Defence Force director Lt- Col (PA) Che Adam Abdul Rahman said the Meteorological Department had extended its warning on impending bad weather in Besut and Setiu.

"The high volume of rain measuring 180mm on a single day coupled by the high tide at two metres were unexpected.

"Most of the low-lying areas in the city were affected, despite the receding floods receding this morning. The situation has yet to return to normal.

"The continuous heavy rain throughout the state and the impending high tide near midnight may cause another round of flood in the city and other low-lying areas," he said.
