KUALA LUMPUR: The Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) has opened the application for a Temporary Operator Licence (LPS) to enable the use of public service vehicles as goods or e-hailing vehicles starting today.

APAD in a statement said that the move was taken to help public service vehicle operators generate additional income in facing the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is also in line with the provisions under Section 44 and Section 45 of the Temporary Measures to Reducing the Impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) Act 2020 (Act 829) which allows temporary change of use of public service vehicle or tourist vehicle to goods vehicle and vice versa.

"This application is open to all types of public service vehicles that meet the requirements set by the Director General of Land Public Transport.

"Applications are open from today and can be made at all APAD Regional offices and counters," according to the statement.

More information on this application can be found on the official APAD portal at www.apad.gov.my. -- BERNAMA
