IPOH: Two more low risk Covid-19 centres to treat patients with mild and no symptoms will be opened in the Kinta and Hilir Perak districts following the number of Covid-19 cases detected in Perak.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said these two centres have yet to be gazetted by the National Security Council (NSC) but the state government was always on standby.

"We have proposed to the NSC that Stadium Indera Mulia here and one more place in Langkap to be opened soon to cater to low risk patients and to avoid government hospitals from being overwhelmed.

"More than 160 beds will be placed at the Indera Mulia Stadium," he told reporters after launching the Covid-19 Special Agriculture Project Programme at Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan here, today.

On the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at Zones B and C of Taman Meru 2C, Ahmad Faizal said the state government will set up a one-stop centre near the area to provide necessary items to its 2,288 residents.

"We will provide diapers and other necessary items for the residents there. We need to understand that the EMCO needs to be enforced following the rising number of Covid-19 cases and the virus spreading rapidly," he said.

Yesterday, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was taken after advice from Perak's NSC.

"The standard operating procedures (SOP) in both localities are similar to the other EMCO zones in Peninsular Malaysia," Ismail said.
