TUMPAT: Except for Covid-19 patients, the Tumpat Hospital will no longer accept other cases.

Kelantan health director Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin who confirmed this, said the move was taken since last night as a precaution should Covid-19 cases continue to increase in the state.

He said emergency and trauma cases that needed to be warded would be sent to other hospitals such as the Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Tengku Anis and Pasir Mas hospitals.

"The state health department has to take necessary precautions as more Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the last few days.

"Therefore, the Tumpat Hospital will no longer receive normal patients and the hospital will be totally turned into a Covid-19 hospital," he said.

Dr Zaini also said if possible, patients with normal illnesses should seek treatment at nearby health clinics.

"If they suffer serious illnesses such as heart attacks, critical breathing difficulties and other illnesses that might pose a danger to their lives, they can still get treatment at the Tumpat Hospital.

"But if they need to be warded, they will be sent to other hospitals," he added.

Af of yesterday, Dr Zaini said a total 240 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Kelantan.

Three died due to the coronavirus in Kelantan so far with four clusters detected in the state.
