PUTRAJAYA: Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the Higher Education Ministry has allowed 653 university students from the northern zone to return to their respective hometowns.

He said some 280 students from the Sarawak zone will return to their homes in the state today and tomorrow.

"Forty four buses will transport students within Perlis, Kedah and Pulau Pinang.

"As for students from the Universiti Teknologi Mara, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Polytechnic and private universities in the northern zone, they begin their journey back home at 2pm while students from Universiti Sains Malaysia will start to leave by 9pm tonight," he said in his daily press conference briefing here today.

Meanwhile, he also said as for Sarawak, there will be two movements today and tomorrow.

Ismail, who is also the Defence Minister, said a total of 42 students in Sarawak will be sent to their respective homes.

"They have left the university at 9am today," he said.
