TUARAN: A family of four was shocked to see a gold-ringed cat snake shed its skin at their house at Kampung Boronuon at Telipok near here.

During the incident at 9.30pm, the 1.5 metre reptile was seen creeping on the wall of a bedroom.

"Initially, I thought it would be aggressive and I was ready to grab an object to chase it away.

"However, I was wrong. The snake was actually sloughing while the whole family was watching the process,” he said, adding that one of them contacted the state Civil Defence department.

District Civil Defence department officer Paulina Francis said they received the report at 9.55pm and four personnel were sent to the location.

"The snake was just finishing shedding its skin and was not aggressive but if it feels threatened, the bite or snake venom could be dangerous.

"The operation to catch the 1-kilogramme snake was completed at 11.30pm and it was released into the forest far from the village.”
