PADANG BESAR: Water level at Timah Tasoh dam continues to drop following the prolonged drought in the state over the last two months.

Perlis Drainage and Irrigation Department director Asnol Adzhan Abd Manap said the water level at the dam was currently at 26.9m compared to its normal level of 29.1m.

“Critical level at the dam is at 25.3m. However any decision on water rationing can only be made by the state water authorities,” he told reporters today.

Meanwhile, state public infrastructure and facilities committee chairman Hamizan Hassan said the dam could operate in its present capacity during the dry season.

“We still have sufficient water supply for the people in Perlis for the next three or four months.

“We expect the water level to rise in April and May as rain is expected,” he said when contacted.
