SEREMBAN: Chinese New Year came early for 28 residents from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amal Charis in Mantin, near here, today.

The special event was organised by SWM Environment Sdn Bhd as part of its corporate social responsibility activity through their SWM Kasih campaign.

A total of RM1,000 worth of essentials and cash were presented to the organisation and according to its executive director, Dr Uzir Abdul Malik, the donation was part of the "SWM Kasih Misi Sampul Merah" programme held annually in conjunction with the CNY celebration.

He said that through the programme, the company also celebrated 28 senior citizens aged between 54 and 82 who are also residents of the charity homes to celebrate the coming Lunar New Year.

"Every year, senior citizens who have contributed to the country's development and progress will be celebrated and appreciated through this SWM Kasih Misi Sampul Merah program.

"They should be celebrated and special attention should be given to them especially from the young generation to cherish their dedication and hard work,” he said when met at the program.

In addition, he said, gifts of goodies to the residents of the charity home were also delivered to bring more cheer to the residents.

"This kind of activity also helps to educate SWM Environment staff to be more attentive to local communities that require the attention and affection from those outside the community," he said.
