PORT DICKSON: A 74-year-old man was killed in a crash at KM259.3 of the North-South Expressway (northbound), near the Port Dickson exit, this morning.

In the 6am incident, the victim, Lok Kaw, 74, was pinned between the front passenger seat and dashboard of the car, driven by his brother, Low Yet Siong, 67.

Rescuers had to use a special tool to extricate the victim from the mangled vehicle. Lok Kaw was pronounced dead by the attending medical team from Tuanku Jaafar Hospital Seremban (TJHS).

Yet Siong suffered multiple injuries on his head, chest and face.

Seremban 2 Fire and Rescue Department's operations head Mohd Syazwan Saidy said the department received a distress call at 6.23am and dispatched 12 firemen and three Rapid bikes to the location.

“The operation was also assisted by Bukit Aman and Seremban police, Plus patrol unit and a team from TJHS.

“Upon arrival, they spotted a man pinned between the passenger seat and dashboard. He was pulled out from the car using rescue tools but was pronounced dead by the medical team soon after,” he said.

“It is learnt that they were on their way to Serdang Hospital from Tampin, as the deceased was scheduled to undergo treatment for cancer today.

“According to Low, the road was dark and he had taken the wrong exit at the time of the incident. When he realised this, he lost control of the car and slammed head on into the road divider.” he added.
