PETALING JAYA: Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad will have an audience with the Sultan of Johor at the Johor palace tomorrow to update the ruler on repair plans for the Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) following a fire three years ago.

He said he would share the ministry’s findings and hiccups faced since 2016 (during the previous administration), how much had been spent and current efforts, moving forward.

Dr Dzulkefly said he was aware of the recent visit to HSA by Johor Regent Tunku Mahkota Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, who had expressed his disappointment over the Federal Government’s lack of efforts in repairing the intensive care unit (ICU).

Taking to his official Facebook page, Tunku Ismail said people had not forgotten the fire which claimed six lives.

He urged the authorities to be more prepared and concerned about the welbeing of the people.

Tunku Ismail also questioned why the incentives for Johoreans and the state government had been reduced to the extent that the hospital wards had not been repaired even after three years of the fire incident.

On the alleged legal suit filed by a victim’s family member against the government over the incident, Dzulkefly gave assurances that the findings would be disclosed soon.

“The Cabinet, and in our post-Cabinet meeting, have decided to do so,”he told reporters here today after launching the Mental Health Handbook to enable Malaysians to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health issues and seek help early.
