SEREMBAN: In line with its move to provide an inclusive budget transcending racial, religious and geographical boundaries, the Negri Sembilan government will continue to focus on stimulating the economy to benefit the people through a proposed budget of RM457 million.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the budget saw an increase of RM27 million from the 2019 budget of RM430 million.

He said the 2020 budget for management would also include emoluments (RM180.1 million), services and supplies (RM96.46 million), assets acquisition (RM3.99 million), grants and liabilities (RM171.88 million) and other expenses (RM4.55 million).

“In addition, the state government is committed to implementing the development agenda to bridge the development gap between the districts in the state.

“Therefore, with the theme of Sustaining the Economy, For People’s Prosperity, RM101.2 million will be allocated for that purpose next year,” he said during the tabling of the 2020 Negri Sembilan State Budget during the Third Assembly (Budget) of the Second General Assembly of the 14th Legislative Assembly here today.

Aminuddin said development allocation will be distributed for social development (RM41.24 million), infrastructure (RM20.87 million), agriculture (RM13.29 million), administration (RM11.78 million), spirituality (RM7.91 million) and tourism (RM6.11 million).

He said besides development allocation, the state government had also received grants for road maintenance from the Federal Government amounting to RM200 million to RM300 million annually.

“The Public Works Department (JKR), the Secretariat of the Road Safety Committee (Marris), will carry out 1,050km of road maintenance work with an estimated allocation of RM290 million,” he said.
