KUALA LUMPUR: Rompin in Pahang and Sri Aman in Sarawak today registered “very unhealthy” air quality levels.

The Air Pollution Index (API) readings on the Environment Department’s (DoE) website as of 5pm today for Rompin and Sri Aman were 221 and 2015, respectively.

Miri continued to record “unhealthy” levels with an API reading of 160.

The rest of the county registered moderate API readings.

API readings of between zero and 50 are classified as good; 51 and 100 as moderate; 101 and 200 as unhealthy; 201 and 300 as very unhealthy; and above 301 as hazardous.

The Meteorological Department has advised the public to avoid open burning and reduce outdoor activities.

The public are reminded to turn on their vehicle headlights while driving during hazy conditions and instances of reduced visibility.
