KUALA KANGSAR: Raja Halimahton Shahrin Sultan Idris, who drowned while on a diving trip at Perhentian Island yesterday, was laid to rest at the Kuala Kangsar Royal Mausoleum, here, this afternoon.

Earlier, the remains of the 62-year-old member of the Perak royal family was taken to the Ubudiah Mosque for the final prayer before being buried at the mausoleum at 2.20pm.

Present were Raja Dihilir Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzulkarnain Sultan Idris Shah, and Raja Puan Muda Perak, Tunku Soraya Sultan Abdul Halim.

Also in attendance were Raja Muda Perak, Raja Jaafar Raja Muda Musa and Raja Puan Besar Perak, Raja Nazhatul Shima Sultan Idris Iskandar.

It was reported that she had gone on a diving trip at Teluk Dalam Pasir Hantu with her dive mates at 4.15pm. It was believed that her oxygen tank had malfunctioned when she was at the depth of 19m.

At 15m, she gave the 'OK' sign and continued the dive but suddenly became weak. Her dive mate then went to her aid but were unsuccessful.

Raja Halimahton Shahrin was the sister of Johor Permaisuri, Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah.

Meanwhile, her son, Putera Mohamed Afiq (as per his Facebook account) took over his mother’s Facebook account and urged everyone not to speculate on the tragedy.

“On behalf of my late mother, I will be taking over this account. I am Putera Mohamed Afiq, just to inform everybody including my fellow family members and friends, please don’t speculate or make assumption on the dive accident as a police report has been lodged. Thank you for all the well wishes.” he said.
