JASIN: A single mother has been reported missing after she was last seen roaming near her house in Lorong Kampung Orang Asli Solok Terentang, Kampung Jus here at 7am yesterday.

The woman, Rosiah Mansor, 52, was last seen wearing a green T-shirt, black head cover, batik sarong and shoes.

Rosiah’s sister Sariah, 60, said her younger sister was believed to have been missing after Rosiah’s son Engku Airil Azuan Tengku Adzha, 32, found the house door ajar and there was no one at home at the time of the incident.

She said at 10pm the night before, the son tried to open the door after he was done chatting with his friend in front of the house but it was already locked so he decided to sleep at his grandmother’s house next door.

“The next morning, her son came home and found the door open and his mother missing.

“What’s more worrying is that she missed her medicine. She’s supposed to take her medicine three times a day for her seizure which she’s been suffering since she was in Standard 4. She’s also suffering from depression after her divorce 15 years ago,” said Sariah.

She added that the family had looked for her the whole day at the nearby area before they lodged a police report at Selandar Police Station.

Meanwhile, the state Fire Department Head of Operations and Management, Superintendent Zulkhairani Ramli said he received a call on the missing person at 7.41am this morning.

He said a search and rescue operation involving 30 personnel, including teams from Water Rescue (PPDA), Special Tactical Operation and Rescue (STORM), Multi-skills (MUST) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS), started at 8am this morning and suspended at 6pm. The operation will begin again tomorrow.

He added that other than Jasin Fire and Rescue Station, the police and Civil Defence Force also joined the operation.

“The search area today involved 500m from the house and a 1.5m-deep pond about 50m near her house,” he said.

Jasin police chief Deputy Superintendent Arshad Abu when contacted confirmed to have received the missing person report.
