CAMERON HIGHLANDS: The partnership between Barisan Nasional and Pas played an important role in ensuring BN's victory in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

BN acting chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the votes won by Pas during the 14th General Election in Cameron Highlands were given to BN in the by-election today.

"BN will continue the penyatuan ummah (unity of ummah) agenda as it has produced positive results here. The strategy will be continued in Semenyih (by-election) and at other places.

"As expected, the Pas voters have given their trust to BN. The ballot boxes (votes) previously won in Pas areas was given to BN this time," he said during a press conference here today.

Hasan said this after BN candidate Ramli Md Nor was declared the winner of the by-election.

Hasan also said BN's victory was a referendum of the people who were not satisfied with Pakatan Harapan's failure to fulfil its promises made during GE14.

"We are confident that if we work hard, BN is a party that will continue to look into the people's welfare. Although we are no longer the ruling government, we will continue to safeguard the people's interest," he said.

Meanwhile, Ramli promised to work hard to serve the people in the constituency.

"I promise to work hard for the people in Cameron Highlands. I am grateful to the voters here who supported BN this time.

Meanwhile, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is BN's by-election director, said he believed that the voters were upset with PH as they were not "genuine" on various issues.

He said PH had tried to confuse voters on certain issues, including those concerning land, by claiming that land-related matters were under the jurisdiction of the state government and not the federal government.
