PETALING JAYA: Former deputy inspector-general of police Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ismail has died of natural causes at Assunta Hospital in Petaling Jaya at 8.18am today.

News of his passing was confirmed by his son, Rozli Abdul Ramhan, 60.

"My father was admitted to hospital 10 days ago and he breathed his last this morning. He was a strict but loving father," Rozli said when met at his home here today.

Present was former inspector-general of police Tun Hanif Omar.

More than 200 people comprising family members and friends visited their home at Jalan Pantai to pay their last respects.

Abdul Rahman will be buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery this afternoon.

He retired as the country's number two cop in 1987 after serving in the force for 38 years.
