IPOH: Six people died when a shop house caught fire at Jalan Puncak Jelapang 3, Puncak Jelapang Maju, Jelapang, near here today.
A spokesman for the state Fire and Rescue Department said the Meru Raya fire station were alerted to the incident at 1.55pm.
He said around 40 per cent of the shop house was already ablaze when firemen arrived.
“Six people were found dead at the scene. The operation is still ongoing,” he said.
Details on what caused the fire are still being obtained.
It is understood that state Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Sayani Saidon is also at the scene.
