KANGAR: Some Facebook users are criticising Perlis Umno chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim’s actions in the state’s menteri besar crisis.
They said the veteran Umno leader’s actions showed disrespect to the royal institution and urged him to respect the choice made by Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail.
Facebook group ‘Saya Anak Perlis’, which has 300,000 followers, expressed hope that the crisis could be resolved for the sake of the state’s people.
Netizen Asmadi Ahmad urged Shahidan and Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representatives to stop using words like “rakyat” and “orang Perlis” in their statements.
“Use segelintir (a handful) or some of the people because Perlis is 1000% not supporting your action,” he said.
“In fact we are together with Tuanku, I am sorry. Please understand us, Thank You.”
Cikgu Ahmad Din said Shahidan was going against the Rukun Negara.
“Going against the royal decree is the same as denying Rukun Negara,” he said.
Ahmad Adam expressed his support for Datuk Seri Azlan Man as the menteri besar by uploading Azlan’s photograph with the Raja of Perlis.
“The people of Bintong support Datuk Seri Azlan Man to remain as menteri besar of Perlis,” he said.
Halmey Hamdah said the people of Perlis were lucky to have a king who cared about his subjects.
“We love our king. Daulat Tuanku, the people of Perlis are lucky to have a king who is concerned about our wellbeing.
“The people are always with Tuanku... the king and people will not be separated,” said Halmey, who also uploaded a video of Raja Perlis’ speech.
