MELAKA: The historical state is an example of a state that is forward moving in terms of sustainable development, as shown at the ninth World Urban Forum (WUF9) in Kuala Lumpur.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said Melaka was one of the states that was invited to present a working paper to discuss city development for the betterment and safety of residents, now and in the near future.

“I have been given the opportunity to present a working paper during this forum, in meetings and through visual form as well, with the assistants of six field experts," he said .

“They (forum panel) see the importance of Melaka in various fields, including green technology and sustainable energy.”

He said this at a media briefing at “Program Santai” with the chief minister, in conjunction with Technical Visit WUF9, which involves 42 countries across the globe.

WUF9 started on Wednesday at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).

The international forum addressed issues of city development, with more than 500 programmes including working papers, workshops, plenary meetings, special sessions and roundtable meetings, as well as policy dialogues.
