KUALA LUMPUR: Police have denied bringing machetes during a drug raid at a condominium in Selayang, Selangor last month.

Gombak police chief Assistant Commissioner Ali Ahmad, in his statement today, strongly refuted the allegation.

This comes following a report by Oriental Daily that a houseowner, known as Liew, 60, claimed that eight plainclothes policemen had aggresively stormed into his home on Jan 7, looking for drugs.

He claimed that the men had ransacked his house, broke four doors but could not find any drugs.

Ali, however, said the man's allegation was unfounded and could damage police's reputation and image in the eyes of the public.

"The complainant was not home at the time of the raid. It was the complainant's sister who refused to cooperate with the raiding party, while two individuals had acted aggresively by kicking and hurling profanities at the policemen."

"Both of them have been charged at the Selayang magistrate's court under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant from discharging his public functions, on Jan 23.

He maintained that police have taken action in accordance with the law based on evidence and statements obtained from their investigations.
