SANDAKAN: Police have released seven secondary school students who were involved in a street brawl here.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said the schools had handed the students, aged between 15 and 17, to police to assist investigation into the brawl at a shopping mall here last Friday.

The video of the incident had gone viral which showed a group of students chasing and beating up a boy at the town.

“It occurred near Harbour Mall on Jan 26, triggered by the act of a student who uploaded a picture of one of them into WeChat, a social media platform.

“After getting their statement, all of them were released on police bail," he said.
