KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin, today launched a partnership with Microsoft Malaysia to introduce several learning tools to be used at the Youth and Sports Skills Training Institute (ILKBS), as part of the 2050 National Transformation 2050 (TN50) initiative.

Khairy said the implementation of the partnership programme, Digital ILKBS, will benefit over 10,000 students of mechanical manufacturing at eight ILKBS including the National Advanced Youth Vocational Institute (IKTBN) Sepang, IKTBN Dusun Tua, IKTBN Pagoh, IKTBN Chembong, IKTBN Bukit Mertajam, IKTBN Miri, IKTBN Jitra and IKTBN Temerloh.

He said that the move to introduce the world class technology was a very important step not only to enhance the country's training and education institutions, but also to prepare the students and graduates for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

"All eight institutions were selected to be part of this Digital ILKBS because they have a special focus on mechanical manufacturing.

We are starting with technical vocational courses first simply because Industry 4.0 is already upon us and we must be ready for it.

We believe that it is imperative for young Malaysians to be equipped with the most up to date knowledge and tools to prepare them for the future," he told reporters at the launch which took place at Microsoft office here today.

He is confident that the latest guidance and software provided through the partnership with Microsoft, will help mould students into becoming Malaysia's frontline workforce and entrepreneurs who are not just technologically prepared, but capable to of taking on the challenges of Industry 4.0

Khairy said that the Implementation of the Digital ILKBS will be rolled out is phases beginning January this year to December 2020.
