SUBANG JAYA: Eleven organisations including Yayasan Pahang have been awarded a certificate of appreciation in conjunction with the launch of SIRIM QAS International's Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Scheme.

The eleven organisations were presented their certifications by Science, Technology and Innovation Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah and Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Paul Low, at the SIRIM Industry 2017 awards night held at Dorsett Grand Subang Hotel tonight.

All eleven organisations were part of a pilot certification programme implemented by SIRIM QAS International in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Association of Malaysian Certified Integrity Office.

The newly launched Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Scheme is based on ISO 37001:2016 that outlines the need and provides guidance to organisations in detecting, preventing and responding to corrupt practices in line with the requirements of the MACC Act 2009, and other anti-bribery prevention laws.

The standard is also used by the Standard Department of Malaysia as MS ISO 37001:2016.

"The implementation of the Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Scheme in an organisation will enable them to improve their reputation, reduce operating costs, strengthen financial performances, nurture the culture of integrity and improve employee morale.

"Thus, contributes to a higher score in the national Corruption Perception Index as well as boosting investor confidence.

"The implementation of the scheme will also encourage organisations to implement integrity programmes and strengthen their internal control systems to prevent corruption," Abu Bakar said in his opening address.

Apart from the Anti-Bribery Management System Certification Scheme, seven other organisations had also received the SIRIM Quality Award 2017.

SIRIM chairman Tan Sri Dr Ir Ahmad Tajuddin who opened the award night in his address said the SIRIM Quality Awards 2017 was a recognition for organisations that achieved excellent quality management.

"We hope that this award will continue to inspire the organisations to be committed in manufacturing products and delivering services that would meet customer needs and efficient management," he said.
