SANDAKAN: Villagers of Kampung Air water village in Karamunting discovered the remains of a newborn baby boy with his umbilical cord still intact, floating in the sea on Wednesday.

It was learnt that the village folks retrieved the remains from the waters at about 8am and placed it in a box before alerting the police.

The body was sent by the police to the Duchess of Kent Hospital here for further action.

Police has classified the case as baby dumping and are appealing to the public with information on the incident to come forward to assist investigations.
