MELAKA: Rain did not dampen the spirit of Ramada Plaza staff members here from displaying their patriotic spirit

national flag, in all its 53.6meters length and three meter width, glory.

"I want to congratulate Ramada Plaza for showing such enthusiasm during the month of independence, where the hotel building is filled with flags that can be seen from the Melaka River Cruise.

"This morning while I was passing by the river, I noticed the national flag on Ramada Plaza's building where it could be seen clear even from such a distance," said Deputy Tourism, River, Beach and Island Development committee chairman Datuk Ghazale Muhamad.

He said this after the launch of Independence Day event at the hotel today.

Ghazale encouraged all companies and premise owners in the state to put up more national flags to attract more tourists to Melaka.

Ramada Plaza general manager Edouard Reizian said this was the first time the hotel organised such an event.

"We really want to show how proud we are to be Malaysians and show the tourists the variety of cultures and colours we have in Malaysia.

"Sixty flags were distributed to symbolise the 60 years of Independence in Malaysia," Edouard said.

Ghazale said this year's Independence Day celebration at the state would be see the re enactment of the Malayan Declaration of Independence at the Proclamation of Independence Memorial which took place on Feb 20, 1956.
