MELAKA: A total of 65 suspected drug addicts were rounded up at the waste management centre in Krubong, by the National Anti-Drug Agency (NADA) today.

State NADA chief Mohamad Yusof Kameh said the 65 people, one of whom is a woman, were arrested under suspicion of being involved in drugs such as heroin and syabu.

"The operation began at 5am and ended at 1pm," he told a press conference after the operation in Krubong.

He said six suspects were handed over to the police. Four were charged under Section 15(1)(a) and two under Section 12 (2) and 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

The two suspects were found to be in possession of 0.47 grams of syabu and 59.2 grams of heroin.

"This is our fifth time operation in Krubong this year. Most of the suspects are repeat offenders.

"The total value of the drugs seized was around RM 2,000," he said.

The suspects were aged between 23 to 63. All the suspects are being detained in Tampin.

A total of 49 personnel from NADA, the state Registration Department, and police participated in the operation.
