TAMPIN: A two-year old girl and her mother were among three people who were killed in an accident between a multi purpose vehicle (MPV) and a four wheel drive ferrying workers, here today.

The accident took place at KM2.5 Jalan Air Kuning-Batang Melaka at noon.

Tampin distrct police chief Superitendent Hamazah Ab Razak said the accident happened when the Nissan Serena MPV travelling from Batang Melaka veered into the opposite lane and collided with a Toyota Hiace.

He said the MPV was two women and the child as passengers while the van driven by a man was carrying two another two women passengers.

The woman driver and her daughter died on the spot while the man died at Tampin hospital.

Cause of death was due to serious injuries to their heads, he said in a statement here.

He added three others, of which one was a passenger in the MPV and two others in the workers van were also sent to Tampin hospital.

Investigations are being carried out under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
