SANDAKAN: A father of one, who had been helping villagers in building illegal power connections, died after being electrocuted.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin confirmed receiving a call from the district hospital on Sunday night about the incident.

"The victim Abdul Barham Kamar, 35, was resuscitated at the hospital's Emergency and Trauma department around 7pm.

"However, medical officer notified that the man was pronounced dead at 9pm," he said, adding the cause of death was electrocution.

Mohd Azhar said the victim and another friend from Kampung Cahaya Baru here had tapped an electric power connection at a substation there on that day.

The case is classified as sudden death.
