SEREMBAN: Public servants must not get involved in corruption or any other activities which betray the trust of the people as it will cause negative repercussions and tarnish their own images as well state governments.

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said all civil servants must instil within themselves strong values such as honesty, integrity and honour.

“Do not give in to corruption and lose to the trappings of luxury as it will destroy the image of not only the individual but the entire public service as a whole,” Mohamad said here earlier today at the Excellence Service Awards 2016 for the state’s public servants.

He said civil servants must strive to regain the trust of the people because to a certain extent, the people have lost their trust and confidence in public servants due to corruption.

“Civil servants must be thankful with what they have and they should not compare their wealth with others,” he added.

At the event, a total of 522 government employees from 32 agencies in the state received their awards which include certificates.
