BELURAN: A baby girl was killed and her parents suffered burn injuries when their worker’s quarters at Tangkarason Estate here was gutted in a fire last night.
The baby has been identified as Ainur Jiman, while her parents are Jiman Alimuddin, 25 and Adittri Rahman, 24.
The fire broke out at about 8.15pm, but authorities were only alerted to the incident by members of the public at 8am this morning.
A Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue department despatched its personnel in a four-wheel-drive vehicle to the location, but it took seven hours to reach the remote area.
The team retrieved the body of the 11-month-old girl from the scene at about 2pm, and later sent it to the Pitas Hospital for a post-mortem.
