BELURAN: A lorry trailer driver was killed when his vehicle overturned at KM 76.9 of Jalan Nangoh/ Paitan here this morning.
Ahmad Nongkang @ Mado, 59, was trapped in the driver’s seat following the accident.
His body was retrieved by firemen but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kinabatangan fire and rescue station operation officer Rosemidian Majid said they received a distress call at 7.51am and arrived two hours later due to the distance to the location, which was 151 kilometres away.
Two passengers had already been sent to the district hospital by members of the public before the team arrived, he said.
The trailer lorry was carrying palm oil fertiliser to be delivered to the IOI Pamol Sugut plantation.
It is believed to have skidded when the driver lost control of the vehicle while coming down from a hilly section.
Beluran district police chief Superintendent Shivananthan Velautham confirmed that the other two men Jeprii Azis, 35, sustained broken legs while Rosli Ruma, 34, broke his thigh.
