KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded a financial strategic advisor with the title of 'Datuk Seri' on suspicion of submitting false claims over corporate merger services worth RM150,000 which were not carried out.

According to sources, the man, who is in his fifties, was detained at 5pm yesterday when he appeared at the MACC headquarters to give his statement,

Following the arrest, the suspect was brought to the Putrajaya magistrate's court this morning, and a three-day remand order was issued by Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin, starting today until July 12.

"The suspect is believed to have committed the act in 2022 by making false claims for corporate services involving the merger of two company entities, even though the services were not performed," the source said.

Meanwhile, MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, confirmed the arrest and said  the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
