PETALING JAYA: Lawyer Mahmud Jumaat is unsure if the parents of autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin will be charged with the murder of their six-year-old son.
Asked if it would be under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, he said, "Unsure. I was told there will be charges against them but I am unsure under which section.
"This morning I was told by the police to come to court.
"The police told me they got the order to charge the couple last night," he said at the Petaling Jaya Court Complex.
He said it was vital for him and lawyer Fahmi Abd Moin to hear the charges against the couple in court first.
He said they would make an application to post bail for the couple.
On police's application to remand the paternal grandparents of Zayn Rayyan today, Mahmud said he believed Fahmi would be making an objection.
"We will wait and see what their offences are... I do not know under what section.
"There is a huge possibility that they were remanded to assist in investigations (linked to Zayn Rayyan)," he said.
