PETALING JAYA: Police were seen taking the mother of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Mateen, 6, to the location where his body was found in their investigations into the boy's murder.

Tightly guarded by a group of police officers from the Selangor police headquarters, she was escorted towards the crime scene at 11.06am today, where her son's body was discovered on Dec 6.

The woman, dressed in lock-up attire, lowered her head as she got down from an unmarked police van that arrived at her residence of Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai here at 10.15am.

It is believed that the visit was for the purpose of re-enacting the circumstances of Zayn Rayyan's disappearance until his body was found.

Zayn Rayyan's father was also brought to the scene, but he did not get down from the police van as the reenactment involved only the mother.

Movement in the area was tightly controlled, with police setting up checkpoints on roads leading to the apartments since 10am.

Members of the media were prohibited from roaming the area and told to stay at a designated spot.

Last Friday, police extended the remand of Zayn's parents to carry out further investigations into the case.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the couple would be remanded for six days until June 13.

Previously, the magistrate's court here today granted the remand of Zayn Rayyan's parents.

The couple, both 28 years old, were remanded under Section 302 of the Penal Code after they were arrested in Puncak Alam on May 31.

Zayn Rayyan, who had autism, was found dead in a stream near Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai at 10pm on Dec 6 after being reported missing the day before.
