KUALA PILAH: A 55-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly driving her car against traffic near Jalan Yam Tuan Radin this morning.

In the 9am incident, the car driven by the woman also grazed a police patrol car in her attempt to evade arrest by the authorities.

Kuala Pilah district police chief Superintendent Amran Mohd Gani said the woman was arrested by the police intercepted her Toyota Vios, about 20 kilometres from the location the car was spotted driving against traffic.

"The police officers attempted to stop the car, but the driver refused to cooperate. In her attempt to evade arrest, the suspect grazed into with the police patrol car, causing damage to its front part," he said in a statement today.

"With assistance from various branches from the Kuala Pilah district police headquarters, the driver was eventually arrested near a petrol station at the Jalan Bahau-Kuala Pilah intersection," the statement said.

Amran said the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for voluntarily obstructing a civil servant in the discharge of his public functions
