JOHOR BARU: Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has warned the public not to link the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station to any religion.

He has asked all parties to refrain from making any unfounded speculations regarding the incident.

"We urge the public to avoid making speculations about the police station shooting incident. The media should also refrain from doing so.

"We also request that the focus remain on reporting the facts of the case as stated by the police. There is no need to link this incident to religion, for instance. That is important. We will continue to provide information as far as we have," he said.

He made these remarks during a press conference at the Johor police headquarters today. Also present were Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Johor police chief, Commissioner M. Kumar.

"We have detained the suspect's parents and siblings (five people in total).

"The investigation needs to continue based on the evidence we have gathered.

"For example, if there are any written notes, that will be part of the investigation," he said.
