KUALA LUMPUR: The nephew of a man whose body was found near a lake in Senadin, Sarawak, has been remanded until April 25.

Miri police chief Assistant Commissioner Alexson Naga Chabu said remand order on the suspect, in his 20s, was issued by the magistrates' court.

He said the 57-year-old victim's body was taken to Miri Hospital for a post-mortem and that case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The Miri police Criminal Investigation Department arrested the nephew at a house in Tudan at 2pm yesterday.

"Initial investigations found that the motive for the killing was due to a disagreement between family members," Alexson said.

A passer-by found the body of the man face lying down on the bank of the lake at 9.03am yesterday and alerted the police.

The victim was found only in his underwear, with his shorts down to his ankles.

Several injuries were found on the body, including six on the head, suspected to be caused by a sharp object.

Cuts were also found on the right palm, on the back, and on left knee.

Anyone with information should call Assistant Superintendent Anuar Affendi at 019-7319540 or 085-433730 or the nearest police station.
