BATU PAHAT: A vocational college bus ploughed into 11 vehicles at the Jalan Tan Swee Hoe-Jalan Kluang traffic light intersection, after its brakes malfunctioned, near here, today.

There were no fatalities reported, while two women aged 34, and 46, in different vehicle sustained minor injuries in the 10.20am incident

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah said the eight passengers on the bus escaped with no injuries in the incident.

"The 51-year-old bus driver was heading towards Jalan Kluang from Batu Pahat, when he lost control of the bus and could not bring it to a stop due to brake failure.

"The bus crashed into nine cars and two lorries which were stationary at the traffic light intersection before it came to a stop.

"A woman driver, and another car passenger suffered minor injuries, but there were no fatalities.

"We tested the driver for contraband but the results are pending," he said.

Investigations under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving is ongoing.

The aftermath of the accident caused massive traffic congestions.
