TAMPIN: A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty at the magistrate's court here to a charge of raping his sister in Gemas in February.

He made the plea after the charge was read out to him before magistrate Kartini Kasran.

According to the charge sheet, he was accused of raping his 14-year-old sister at a house in Gemas about 4pm on Feb 6.

He was charged under Section 376(3) of the Penal Code, which carries a minimum jail sentence of eight years and a maximum of 30 years, along with at least 10 strokes of the cane if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Muhammad Amirul Noor Hashimi stood for the prosecution while the accused was unrepresented.

The court set bail at RM1,000 with one surety, and that the bailor must be one of his parents.

The court fixed May 27 for mention and submission of a social report before sentencing.

In the same court, another 16-year-old boy claimed trial to a charge of raping a girl of the same age at a house in Gemas at 9am on Feb 16.

He was charged under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years and whipping, if found guilty.

Muhammad Amirul prosecuted, while defence counsel Roseli Abdul Gani appeared for the accused.

The court granted bail of RM2,000 with one surety, specifying that the bailor must be one of his parents.

The court also ordered the accused not to harass the victim until the disposal of the case and set May 27 for mention.
