KUANTAN: Police have solved eight cases of warehouse break-ins in the state with the arrest of three men in Johor last week.

The trio aged between 35 and 40, believed to be members of a syndicate known as "Gang Vennu", is suspected of committing break-ins in five districts of Pahang, namely in Pekan, Maran, Jerantut, Kuantan and Raub.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said police have been tracking down the suspects after they made-off with some 100 lorry tyres worth RM100,000 at a warehouse in Jalan Kuantan-Gebang on March 2.

"Kuantan Criminal Investigation Department officers, along with a team from Johor police, detained two men in Johor Baru about 10.30pm on March 4 and seized a lorry allegedly used to steal the tyres in Kuantan.

"The two suspects led police to arrest an accomplice, who acted as a middleman to purchase the stolen goods in Kulai, Johor. Police recovered 31 lorry tyres of various sizes.

"Investigations revealed the syndicate members were responsible for breaking into warehouses and making off with various goods at five districts in Pahang since last year. They have been detained at the Maran police station for investigations," he told reporters here today.

He said the syndicate members would force open the main gate of targeted warehouses and steal the goods inside with a lorry.

Wan Zahari said all three suspects had records and the case was investigated under Section 357 of the Penal Code for robbery, and Section 411 for dishonestly receiving stolen properties.
