GEORGETOWN: Police have received a report regarding a man who is suspected to intentionally cause road accidents to demand compensation from owners of the vehicles involved.

The man is accused of frequently causing accidents around the city, specifically along Jalan Masjid Negeri, Bukit Gambir, Taman Lip Sin, and Taman Tun Sardon.

Timur Laut district police chief Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid said the man is still at large as police continue their search following complaints received from the public last December.

"So far, one report has been received regarding the incident and efforts to track down the suspect are ongoing.

"The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which pertains to fraud," he said when contacted today.

Earlier, several images and videos went viral on social media depicting the man, who rides a motorcycle, deliberately causing accidents by colliding with cars and alleging that the fault lies with the owners of the vehicles involved.

Following the incidents, the motorcyclist is said to demand compensation ranging from RM20 to RM60 from the car owners, claiming that their side mirrors were broken in the said incidents.
