KAJANG: A 42-year-old, who was involved in an accident with a motorcyclist, was allegedly battered to death at Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2 last night.
The victim was allegedly chased by a group of motorcyclists after his car crashed into the motorcycle at a different location, also within Semenyih.
In the 9.20pm incident, the motorcyclists were said to have chased the Proton Iswara driven by the victim, until it crashed at a housing area.
Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said they received a call about an accident and officers from the district traffic investigation department rushed to the scene.
"Upon arrival, the officers noticed a car had crashed into the fence of one of the houses and saw a man lying on the middle of the road, with both hands tied.
"The officers also saw bruises and injury marks on the man's body," he said in a statement today.
He said a medical team at the scene tried to revive the victim but failed.
Mohd Zaid said a team from the Criminal Investigation Department interviewed some of the eyewitnesses at the scene, who told police a few men had dragged the victim out of the car during the crash and started assaulting him.
"Bukit Aman forensics combed the crime scene and lifted a few fingerprints, blood samples, and recovered two types of strings, green and brown, which may have been used to tie the victim's hands, during the attack," he said.
Mohd Zaid also confirmed that police had so far arrested five suspects, aged between 22 and 52, to help in the investigation.
"The case is being investigated under Section 302 if the Penal Code for murder and under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987."
The victim's remains were sent to Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
