KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded the managing director of an agricultural tractor distribution company on suspicion of being involved in more than RM25 million in bribery.

It is believed that the managing director, in her 50s, is involved in bribery related to the supply, delivery, testing, and installation of agricultural tractors.

A three-day remand order, starting today until Jan 8, was issued by magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin after an application was made by the MACC at the Putrajaya magistrate's court this morning.

According to sources, the suspect is among three individuals aged between 40 and 50 who were arrested by the MACC, including a marketing general manager and a sales general manager at two companies.

"They are believed to be involved in offering and giving bribes to officials at a plantation company in return for projects.

"The three suspects were arrested around 11pm to 12am last night when they appeared at the MACC headquarters, but the two suspects who are the marketing and sales general managers were released on bail due to health factors, while the suspect who is the managing director was brought to court for a remand application," he said.

Meanwhile, MACC Senior Director of Investigation, Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest of the three suspects adding that two suspects were released on bail by the MACC due to health reasons.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
