He said checks were conducted on 213 foreign nationals, resulting in the detention of 108 individuals for various offences.

These detainees, comprising 104 males and 4 females, hail from Indonesia, Bangladesh, Myanmar, India, Nepal, and Pakistan.

Of the 108 nabbed, the highest number were Indonesian nationals with 52 detainees, followed by Myanmar with 35, 12 from India, 7 from Bangladesh and one each from Pakistan and Nepal.

"All those detained had been handed over to Immigration and they would be investigated under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act of 1959 for not possessing valid travel documents and overstaying.

"The police, assisted by other departments and agencies, will continue to carry out special operations like this in the future.

"We will continue to fulfil their duties and responsibilities in maintaining and ensuring the safety and peace of the nation," he said.
