KUALA LUMPUR: Police have opened an investigation paper over a viral clip of a family robbing a gadget accessories store in Kota Tinggi, Johor.

In a closed-circuit television (CCTV) recording posted on the "Penduduk Kota Tinggi" Facebook page, several individuals believed to be family members alighted from a Proton Wira and entered the premises.

The video then cut to a boy unpacking an item that was displayed in the store that was supposed to be for sale before he hid the packaging under the display rack.

The video then showed a person believed to be part of the group seen trying to hide something that he took from the display rack.

Kota Tinggi district police chief Hussin Zamora said the 51-second video, posted on Jan 24 captured several individuals entering Gadget Station, Kota Tinggi, around 7pm and engaging in theft of items from the premises.

"Kota Tinggi police will initiate an investigation into this matter and urges the involved individual or any affected business owner to promptly report to the nearest police station," he said.
