KUALA LUMPUR: The Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a remand order on a tuition teacher on suspicion of providing false documents in order to secure a landscaping and maintenance services contract for a building valued at over RM170,000.

Magistrate Sasha Diana Sabtu granted the four-day remand order starting today until Oct 22 after the MACC applied for the remand at the Shah Alam magistrate's court earlier today.

The male suspect, believed to be in his 40s, is believed to have been detained at 7pm at the MACC Selangor office where he had gone to provide his statement.

Sources said the suspect is alleged to have provided documents containing false information to meet financial assessment requirements when participating in a quotation procurement process in 2019.

Yesterday, a company director was remanded for four days, until Oct 21 in connection with the same case.

MACC Selangor director Datuk Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said that the investigation is being conducted under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
