KLANG: Police have confirmed the arrest of three suspects believed to be involved in a roadside assault case at a traffic light intersection on Jalan Langat-Klang last Sunday.

South Klang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong, stated that the arrests were made by the D7 team from the Crime Investigation Division of the South Klang district police headquarters, at 6.30 pm yesterday.

"The police successfully apprehended three local suspects aged between 28 and 39 years old. A background check on all the suspects revealed that they had previous records related to drugs.

"An initial urine screening test conducted on all the suspects found that the main suspect, 39, tested positive for methamphetamine," he said in a statement today.

Following this, he said that the South Klang district police headquarters Narcotics Crime Investigation Division has also initiated an investigation under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

He clarified that a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code would be submitted to the Klang Magistrate's Court today.

"The investigating officers will complete the investigation in the near future before referring it to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions," he added.

Yesterday, Hoong Fong stated in a statement that they had received a report from a 21-year-old local victim who claimed to have been detained by a car occupied by three men.

He said the victim reported that one of the men had assaulted and damaged his motorcycle.

He explained that on the day of the incident (Oct 1) at 7.15 pm, the victim, who was riding a motorcycle, honked at a car for reckless driving and nearly collided with him.

"The driver of the vehicle then blocked the victim's movement at the traffic light intersection. One of the men then pushed the victim, causing him to fall off the motorcycle and proceeded to choke, punch and kick the victim's face, stomach and legs several times.

"Before leaving, the suspects also kicked the complainant's motorcycle, causing damage to the cover set. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered painful injuries and swelling on the lips, ribs and legs," he said.

Yesterday, it was reported that a burly man had assaulted a p-hailing rider in an act of road rage.

The man was seen punching and kicking the p-hailing rider and the clip, which went viral, was posted on GrabFood Rider Community Facebook page and had received more than 3,000 shares.
